Camp Geronimo is a week long camping experience for
scouts. Classes are run during the weekdays to allow scouts to earn up
to 3 merit badges. Other activities are planned when the scouts have
free time to keep them occupied. Our campsite is rated to hold 40
scouts. We had 28 scouts and 9 adults attend this years camp.
The first activity was the opportunity to go on a
horseback ride. We did this activity on Sunday afternoon.
Another Activity we did was to walk the Levi Young Nature Trail. This
activity was needed to earn the "I did it all" award.
Another requirement for the "I did it all" award is to learn how to
tie the 5 basic knots - Square, bowline, two 1/2 hitches, taut line
hitch and clove hitch.
Completing the obstacle course is another requirement of the "I did
it all" award
Camp Geronimo isn't just work and physical activity. There is also
the general silliness that goes on. The adult leaders dressed in Peter
Pan costumes to attend the leaders meetings.
During the rest of their free time, the scouts had a chance to work
on their merit badges, go on hikes, play in the creek or just have fun.
Almost every campfire involves scouts doing skits or singing songs.
One of the favorite and most repeated songs is re-created here by some
of Troop 222's scouts.
