Date of Event: April 8-9 2008
Attendance: 6 adults, 12 scouts
After discovering that the Lynx Lake campground was
full, there was some panic and confusion until we found Hilltop
campground down the road had some available campsites. After setting up
camp we sat around a campfire until everyone crawled into the sleeping
bags to prepare for a cold nights sleep.
Saturday morning after breakfast the boys worked on
their lashings to make ladders. After that Mrs. Welton went over some
requirements for the Leatherworking Merit Badge. The scouts made a
leather arrowhead to hang on their uniform. They also made a keychain by
braiding it out of vinyl lace. The rest of the day, they boys used as
free time. They took a short hike to the lake for some baitless fishing.
Surprisingly, no one caught anything.
Sunday morning was spent breaking camp and driving
home. All of the boys had a lot of fun on this campout.
