On September 12 to 14, our troop went on a car
camping trip to Lynx Lake near Prescott. We had 9 adults and 14
scouts who went on this trip. We ended up in Hilltop Campground with
4 sites near each other.
The weather for the weekend was near perfect. The
days were in the upper 70’s and the nights got down to a brisk 45
degrees. There was not a cloud in the sky the whole time. I didn’t
put the rain fly on my tent and slept under the stars.
On Saturday morning, Chris taught the scouts the
fishing merit badge. In the afternoon, we went down to the lake to
try our hand at catching some fish. Only one fish was caught the
entire afternoon, but two scouts received credit for it. Matt C.
reeled it in while Aaron C. helped with the net and removed the
hook. The fish was a good sized Carp (see photo).
The scouts also spent some time running around in
the woods playing games. One scout found a tennis ball and that kept
the whole group busy for quite a while. No scouts were harmed in the
making of this campout.
